Citizen Design Co. is more than a design studio—we are storytellers and architects of experiences that enhance the way you live and work. We create interiors that are as thoughtful and functional as they are beautiful: timeless, natural, and effortlessly lived-in.

Rooted in the prairies we call home, our Beautiful Prairie Living philosophy is more than a design ethos, it has organically become an integral part of our design style and an extension of who we are. Inspired by the muted, earthy tones and organic textures of the prairie landscape, we design with a sense of calm and grounding, capturing the everyday beauty found in our surroundings. As the founder and lead visionary of Citizen Design Co., I’ve cultivated a design philosophy I call Beautiful Prairie Living—a style that feels effortless, approachable, and truly lived-in. It’s a design language that doesn’t require lengthy explanation: warm, layered, approachable and timeless. At its core, this approach balances comfort with function, ensuring every item has its place so daily life feels organized, intentional, and calm. This philosophy has become the cornerstone of our work, allowing us to create spaces that are both beautiful and enduring, built to withstand fleeting trends.

In my role as the lead visionary and principal designer, my career has been driven by a singular mission: to help people live more beautiful and organized lives. Fueled by a passion for helping others and creating the most perfect layout to enhance lives, I collaborate closely with clients on a wide range of projects—from custom residential new builds, to salons, fitness studios, and office spaces. My unconventional approach combines design styles, ensuring a beautiful aesthetic coupled with quality and practical materials and functionality to prevent expensive trends that need to be redone in short years down the road.

Continuous learning and growth are central to my practice. As a proud member of the Interior Designers Association of Saskatchewan, I seek out inspiration through travel, collaboration, and working with clients across North America. Each project is an opportunity to refine my craft, expand my perspective, and bring a little more beauty, order, and joy into people’s everyday lives.

    In the summer we turned to Carli and Mike to help us create a more functional kitchen space for our casual entertaining and an excessive amount of cooking and baking. It turned out even better that I could even picture and I love it all! We wanted to turn to experts to make sure we knew our options, could turn this into something that better fits our lifestyle, still fits in with the rest of the house and we didn’t want to be in construction mode for months!

    It took me a while to really know what I wanted to be able to make decisions especially when I didn’t even realize I had a preference for something. I am so thankful for Carli and Estey’s patience. Like I was seriously indecisive and often would push to know what they would do. But they were so helpful when I was scared to make a choice, giving me enough to feel like I owned this but in a way that made everything fit together so perfectly. Then when it came to demo and construction Mike managed all the subcontractors perfectly so that we were only without a usable sink/stove for about a week! His tradespeople were fantastic and paid so good attention to detail. We got rid of our kitchen table and created a massive eat-up island. The quality of their craftsmanship was impeccable, esp that island seam!!

    We’d been chipping away at renos in our home over the last 10 years and learned a few things along the way: it would take us at least twice as long as we expected to do anything (which is time we’d have to take off work), we’d never know who to contact when we needed to hire a tradesperson, and we didn’t know enough about home renovations to effectively map out a larger vision for our home. Enter Citizen Design Co.! I contacted Carli for a consult to see what would be possible for our kitchen (if we knock this wall down will we still have enough space for a functioning kitchen?) and ended up hiring her team to do a full-scale design for the living space on both levels of our home as well as hiring Citizen Developments to do the full renovation. We’re so glad we had them manage all aspects of the project – we had full trust in them and their tradespeople and had a consistent flow of communication between design and construction. I wouldn’t say that living in an extensive renovation is enjoyable (spoiler alert: it’s totally not :), but I never imagined it would go as seamlessly as it did. We love our new space and are so happy we went with Citizen. I really can’t say enough great things about our experience with them!

    We booked in for the Designer for a Day service with the Citizen team and let me tell you we were blown away! At first, we thought will we get our bang for our buck and our expectations were extremely surpassed! We accomplished so much in 4 hours of side-by-side design help with Carli, she then put together some suggestions in an email and sent us a list of steps for us to not feel so overwhelmed and guided us in what we all needed to do. We accomplished months of agony in one day of her time! She was not only amazing, patient, and knowledgeable but she shared so many tips and tricks with us. We were able to select almost all of our new build plumbing fixtures, lighting, countertops, hardwood floors and some of the large furniture pieces. She also caught several issues on our blueprints that we would have never caught till we moved in. Working with Carli has been absolutely amazing she sure knows how to think outside the box.
